The NanoPi R5C (also referred to as R5C) is an open-source mini IoT gateway device developed by FriendlyElec, equipped with dual 2.5G Ethernet ports. It integrates a Rockchip RK3568B2 CPU with options for 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 0GB, 8GB, or 32GB eMMC flash. The board supports booting from TF cards and is compatible with operating systems such as FriendlyWrt, Android, Ubuntu Desktop, and Buildroot, while also working seamlessly with headless systems. Despite its compact size of just 58 x 58 mm, the NanoPi R5C offers rich hardware resources, including an HDMI port, making it versatile for both IoT and multimedia applications. FriendlyElec has also released a precision-engineered CNC housing for improved durability and usability.

In terms of multimedia performance, the NanoPi R5C supports decoding 4K60p H.265/H.264 video formats and includes one M.2 E-Key port along with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for expansion. It can be used as a lightweight NAS or portable drive for storing and playing back images and videos.
